Describe the major water features where the Battle of Yorktown was fought?
That is all i ask :]
Thank you
The principle water feature that figures into the battle is the Chesapeake Bay, a protected inlet on the Atlantic coast, with an opening small enough to allow a squadron of French vessels to gain control over the entire Bay, with a quick victory against a squadron of British vessels. This prevented General Sir Henry Clinton, in command in New York, from reinforcing or resupplying George Lord Cornwallis’ force on the peninsula.
With the French fleet in control of the Bay, Generals Washington and Rochambeau surrounded the British force rom the landward side, and dug in. They began the fortifications for the seige in September, and by October 19, Cornwallis surrendered.
