How do fish get into natural fish ponds?

I have heard of the idea of birds or ducks naturally stocking the pond but always thought this to be a myth. I was wondering if anyone has could provide me with some help.

That actually is often the way it happens. Also, in rainy seasons, overflow and small temporary creeks carry eggs and small fish into new bodies of water.

Some times the fish eggs are transported "via" bird doo.

True natural fish ponds were once connected to larger bodies of water that were once connected to a river or ocean.

Humans have been known to stock fish ponds as well for their own use.

I’ve never heard of birds stocking fish ponds before, but I guess anything is possible. Maybe they accidently drop them into the ponds from other bodies of water?

usually, if the pond has been there and isn’t built by man, it is connected somehow to another water source. even if there isn’t a connected source now, there could have been hundreds of years ago, thus the fish reproduce in the pond and there you go. Alternately eggs could be carried and dropped by birds, turtles, frogs, toads, etc. Also sometimes people do buy fish to stock natural ponds.
