Can I use regular lava rock as the biological filter medium in my pond filter?
Or do I need to get some of that fancy stuff sold all over the pond supply websites? I have seen lava rock mentioned as an alternative, but wasn't sure if it would work as well as whatever else, plastic strips, the ceramic stuff, etc
