Lately I’ve been at home bored when I’m not at work and I want something to do to keep my occupied, so I was thinking of planting some flowers. What kind of flowers are good to plant during the summer months (considering the hot weather and such). I live in the Dallas/Ft. Worth are of Texas if that helps. They will be in the shade of a tree but at some point during the day might get direct sunlight. I want colorful flowers but am not sure which will work… Thanks!

Impatiens are good, they like shade but can tolerate some sun also. They come in many colors.

Lantana likes dry hot weather and it will come back next year but it needs a little more sun.

Water lilies, or Nymphaeaceae, are essentially a flower attached to leaves. So, both parts are made of complex sugars (the flower and leaves photosynthesize).

We have ‘nuisance’ birds around where I live (fl.). They congregate in convenience store parking lots begging for handouts. If been trapped by the great blue herons more than once. If you give them anything, even more will surround your vehicle.
Plant thorny plants around the koi pond. Bougainvilleas have
long spiky thorns that will deter most intruders and they have beautiful blooms.

I have plastic ponds with plants and circulation in them, is there any common household product that will clear the pond and not kill the plants or fish? The ponds are in a very sunny place that i cannot move opr shade anymore.

PLEASE do not use bleach as advised in another answer, your fish might last 5 minutes if you use it
there’s no other way around it, you have to figure out some way to shade your pond, no amount of barley bundles or algae eaters
(fish) can control algae in a pond in full sun, plant enough plants to cover 80% surface, build some sort of canopy or gazebo over the ponds, plant small trees or large hedges to block some of the light, I know all the books tell you to locate your pond in the sun and you should if all you have are water lilies but if you have fish and want some semi-clear water then your pond should be in the shade (just be sure to keep leaves out) evena chemical algae-cide won’t be able to control the algae in full-sun

Curious to know why there are so many landscaping water features in the driest areas of our country such as Arizona and Nevada? Every housing development, shopping center, etc has a rocky waterfall or some stylish water pond with koi at its entrance. But yet this is the driest area of our country and water is (naturally) in short order. I find this curious…

Disgusting isn’t it. It’s more status than anything. "See I live in the desert and am not putting water on my landscape so I’ll dump it into a fountain that evaporates at an awful rate just because I can."

Originally they thought it would help cool the clime……..it actually made the environment more humid. Parts of Phoenix are very humid!!

Water features are a trademark of ancient landscapes/gardens, but the water remained mostly still and level……where it was for psychological cooling.

Spider Lilies (Viet Subtitle) – Rainie Yang, Isabella Leong, etc.

In this movie, Rainie Yang plays the role of Jade, a webcam girl who visits a tattoo parlour to look for sexy decoration to excite her clientele. She requests for a spider-lily tattoo similar to one framed at the tattoo parlour but the female tattoo artist, Takeko (played by Isabella Leong), is reluctant to accede to her request. Visiting Jade�s website, Takeko finds out that she is a webcam girl but does not realize that they knew each other 10 years ago when Jade had a crush on her.
